    Talking Dogs

Barkley is just shy of 14 weeks. He’s got four paws, a tail and cow-like spots spread like continents over the Northern and Western hemispheres of his body. He’s a dog. He’s cute as he can be, but he’s a dog.

But one could be easily mistaken by the way his “parents” talk about him. They constantly find ways to bring him up in conversation and those who know him well actually enjoy talking about him as well. His name is replaced with words like ‘baby” and ‘buddy’ and ‘barks’.

He is a part of our family.

The funniest thing that I’ve come to recall about dog ownership is the talking.

Barkley talks. He has an opinion about almost everything. If he is in the room it’s just as likely that he will have a comment as any adult. Sometimes his voice is high-pitched reminiscent of Ellen and every now and then I’ll pipe in his context in a slightly lower tone.

As someone who often prides himself in not following trends, I’ve really fallen short with this one. Meet Barkley.
